Alain Vanderelst holds a law degree from the University of Antwerp (1982) and an LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center (1983).
He has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 1983. Before co-founding Tilia Law (before VWEW Advocaten) in 1993, he was an associate at De Bandt Van Hecke Lagae & Van Bael (1983-985) and Van Bael & Bellis (1986-1993).

In the field of corporate law, his primary focus is on mergers and acquisitions and the negotiating and drafting of contracts (including sales and service agreements , distribution agreements , agency agreements , concession agreements , and loan and lease agreements). He also advises on matters related to advertising , promotions and fair trade practices.
His antitrust practice includes the provision of advice to businesses and organisations in their dealings with the competition authorities, both in terms of market concentration and restrictive practices.
